Sleep Safely Progam

The Sleep Safely Program aims to decrease infant mortality on Pine Ridge Indian Reservation by providing cribs and educating parents on the reservation about safe sleeping environments.

Through 2016, Mitakuye Oyasin has donated 33 cribs to the Family And Child Education (FACE) program, which is a Pine Ridge organization providing home-based services for parents.

Donations to the Sleep Safely Program go toward purchasing cribs and other safety supplies depending on the specific needs of families on Pine Ridge. In addition, funds are used to facilitate parenting seminars and lectures on the reservation.

Seminars are interactive and include information about young child safety, age-appropriate toys, potty training and more.
