Leadership

Megan Hulbert

Megan lives in Bloomfield, Iowa, with her husband, Brandon, and their two children Levi and Frances.  She has been a Registered Nurse since 2010 and has worked in many different modalities of nursing, being exposed to many different cultures.

Megan traveled to Pine Ridge in November 2013 as part of her BSN through Mercy College. The life changing experience prompted her to join the Mitakuye Oyasin board so that she can improve the lives of the Lakota as they had for her.  She is passionate about improving the health and well-being of others, and educating and providing inspiration and hope to the residents of Pine Ridge.

Andrea Jimmerson

Andrea founded Mitakuye Oyasin in 2011 after visiting Pine Ridge as part of her Bachelor of Nursing program for Mercy College of Health Sciences. She returns to Pine Ridge each spring to continue to grow in her understanding of the culture and needs of the community. Andrea is currently working on a Masters Degree in Transcultural Nursing at Augsburg University.

A driven and determined emergency room nurse in the Des Moines, Iowa, area, Andrea takes any opportunity to speak to people about Pine Ridge. She's given evidence-based presentations to Upper Iowa University, Mercy Hospital Des Moines, and many area churches.

As Executive Director of Mitakuye Oyasin, Andrea continues to rally the most passionate people she can find to fundraise, develop programs, network with other nonprofits and develop lasting relationships with the Lakota.
